What is a South Sea Shell Pearl?
'South Sea Shell Pearl' refers to a simulated pearl and are demanded by large
numbers of consumers for their stunning similarity to that of the most expensive fine pearls - South Sea Pearls. Not only
do they have the same heavy weight as south sea pearls, but also they look and feel just like south sea pearls, which are
mainly only affordable to wealthier people.
They are man-made pearls, differing from the freshwater pearls grown in mussels,
which make up the majority of our pearl jewellery.
The best South Sea Shell Pearls are made with a shell base, following the
same idea as the natural pearl only with man controlling all the production.
The process of making a shell pearl involves several different stages. The
raw material for the base of the pearl is the sea shell, which is coated and polished to the final shape of the pearl. In
order to produce a good quality pearl, a key ingredient is what we call a ‘mother of pearl bead'. This element adds
weight, value and durability to the pearl. In fact, the materials used in order to make our shell pearls are the same materials
which cultured pearls contain.
Because the process is controlled by man rather than nature, the South Sea
Shell Pearl can be perfectly round and with perfect lustre a rarity in natural pearls. The manual production of the shell
pearl enables the manufacturer to determine the shape, size, and colour of the pearl, thus making the final result seem perfect
Caring for your pearls
Store Pearls in soft cloth pouch, minimize its contact with hairspray, makeup,
perfume, and other personal care products, which contain chemicals that can harm the pearl's surface and dull the pearl's
luster. When you take your pearls off, gently wipe them with a soft damp cloth. Washing your pearls periodically is the best
way to help remove harmful build-ups.
